Thank you for your interest in keeping freight moving through South Carolina Ports!
We hope the following guidelines will assist you in navigating our policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
- Safety FIRST. All drivers are always required to wear safety vests within our gates. Cell phone and electronic devices cannot be used while in motion.
- All drivers at our marine terminals must have a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card. New card assignments can be obtained from the United States Transportation Safety Administration. More information is available at: https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic or (855) 347-8371. (TWIC is not mandatory at Inland Ports Greer or Dillon).
- All motor carrier companies must have a current SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code). SCAC applications can be obtained here from the National Motor Freight Traffic Association. More information is available at: http://www.nmfta.org/ or (703) 838-1831.
- All motor carrier companies must participate and be in good standing with UIIA (Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement). More information is available at: https://www.uiia.org/ or (877) 438-8442.
- All motor carrier companies must register (and provide their SCAC certificate) with SC Ports’ Go!Port system. This gives you the ability to create pre-advise (aka PIN or Gate Code) which is required to gate in or gate out of our facilities. Registration is free and can be obtained from the South Carolina Ports Authority. This is specific to Wando Welch, North Charleston, and Inland Port Greer terminals. Sign up for Go!Port or call (843) 579-4433 for assistance.
- All motor carrier companies planning to utilize the SC Ports’ chassis equipment must enroll in SC Ports’ SMART Pool™ chassis program. The SMART POOL™ program offers a modern chassis fleet at competitive daily rental rates while utilizing state of the art systems for tracking, billing, and maintenance. Motor carriers may review our policies and apply for the SMART Pool™ program at SMART POOL™ Chassis Program – all requirements must be met before SMART Pool™ equipment may be interchanged. If any assistance is needed, please contact our SMART Pool™ team at chassislogistics@scspa.com or 843-375-3104.
- Use the Truckers Guide for procedures on how to gate in and out of our South Carolina Ports terminals
NOTE: US TSA, National Motor Freight Traffic Association, and UIIA are separate entities from South Carolina Ports. You would need to contact them directly for more information.
