#SCPorts received the final federal reimbursement for the Charleston Harbor Deepening Project, concluding a period of strong collaboration among federal, state, and local officials. Senator Lindsey Graham has been a driving force behind this transformational project from its outset in 2011.

“Completing the largest project in our District’s history, on time and within budget, is a testament to the strength of our partnership with the South Carolina Ports Authority, Senator Graham, and other state and federal leaders.” - Lt. Col. Todd Mainwaring, district commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District

The project strengthens SC Ports’ competitiveness by allowing the world’s largest container ships to call on the Port of Charleston at any time, removing tidal restrictions, improving efficiency, and attracting new shipping services and business investment.

SC Ports’ strategic infrastructure investments allow us to continue welcoming the largest ships calling the U.S. East Coast at any time, regardless of tides.

The length of the OOCL Iris (1,205 ft) is equivalent to roughly:

- 3.5 football fields
- 4 St. Matthew’s Lutheran Churches (the tallest structure in Charleston)
- 75 SC-made SUVs

When a rare snow storm hit Charleston last month,

When a rare snow storm hit Charleston last month, we had to work together to resume operations as quickly as possible for our customers. The South Carolina Department of Transportation showed up for us in a big way, treating and plowing Wando Welch Terminal, which helped us return to vessel and yard operations faster. The #SCPorts leadership team and Board of Directors recognizes our partners at #SCDOT for their critical assistance in keeping freight moving for port-dependent businesses around the state.

Inland Port Greer Expansion 🚧

9,000 feet of new rail has already been placed to accommodate longer trains carrying more cargo.

The container yard has been expanded to the east and west, doubling the cargo capacity.
