On March 12 Norfolk Southern will begin two-day rail service between the Port of Charleston and the Charlotte Regional Intermodal Facility.
The new service will operate 5-days per week and connect Charleston and Charlotte using existing dedicated intermodal trains with a switch in Spartanburg, SC. The net result is a fast, reliable, price-competitive rail option that is a significant improvement on existing rail options from Charleston and all other ports in the region.
Cities that may benefit include Charlotte, Concord, Shelby, Gastonia, Statesboro, Wilkesboro, Greensboro, High Point, Rock Hill, Fort Mill and points in between.
