Mission of the Port

South Carolina Ports Authority promotes, develops and facilitates waterborne commerce to meet the current and future needs of its customers, and for the economic benefit of the citizens and businesses of South Carolina. SC Ports fulfills this mission by delivering cost competitive facilities and services, collaborating with customers and stakeholders, and sustaining its financial self-sufficiency.

About the Port

Founded in 1942, South Carolina Ports Authority owns and operates public marine terminals at the Port of Charleston. The Port of Charleston encompasses Wando Welch Terminal, North Charleston Terminal, Columbus Street Terminal, Union Pier Terminal, Veterans Terminal and Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal, which opened in March 2021. SC Ports Authority also owns and operates two rail-served inland ports, Inland Port Greer and Inland Port Dillon
